The measurement units are an essential part of the sensing and monitoring systems. In the electrobiology lab, we have developed multiple smart platforms with various capabilities. These portable systems can measure and record temperature as well as impedance measured with our 3-D printed and PCB probes.
These devices can now be advanced from a stand-alone static technology into a dynamic smart platform that includes a graphical interface, microprocessor control, Bluetooth connectivity, and data handling capabilities. This will enable the linkage of user groups within the conservation community and expand the ability of repositories to reliably obtain samples of high quality. This can be done in cooperation with existing conservation programs to support on-site collection and freezing.
